What would Jeju do?

Sweet December is coming..

For me, it's like having a very super looooong holiday!
The ultimate excitement when you can imagine what would you do to spend your long holiday.
Well *crossed-finger* at least you can arrange for some plan, such as having a fascinating vacation to South Korea (hell yeah.. why not?).

I'm a simple traveler but not in denial I also love the backpacker's way of trip in the nature.
So, if I had a chance to spend my holiday there, I would love to start my adventure with Jeju Island.

What so special from Jeju? This is the excitement about Jeju that you should know..

1. We start at Seoul Gimpo International Airport, destination (of course) Jeju Island, (fare at weekdays: 65,600 KRW and for the weekend and peak days: 93,000 KRW)
for about 58 minutes in the air, we'll be landed at Jeju International Airport.

2. The first stunning plan when you arrived in Jeju is to enjoy the festival, name is Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival.

Daeboreum is an important traditional holiday in Korea.  People across the country celebrate the day by climbing mountains in the cold to catch a glimpse of the first full moon, or they might journey to the nation’s East coast to see the year’s first rays of sun.

The cleansing of farmland is an important theme of the Daeboreum holiday, so as in years past, this year, the Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival began with a torch relay across the entire island.

3. After seeing the fire festival, it's time for a bit of splash in Jeju Island, to cooling you down, you can try to visit Cheonjiyeon waterfall..
A deep sigh for an adorably view like this, and yes, it's still in Jeju Island.

The cleansing of farmland is an important theme of the Daeboreum holiday, so as in years past, this year, the Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival began with a torch relay across the entire island.  Other games and events, including one where children chased pigs and ducks across a finish line, were popular among families.  In another activity once used to mark adulthood on Jeju Island, participants see how far they can carry a 130-kilogram stone. - See more at: http://discoveringkorea.com/090221/the-jeongwol-daeboreum-fire-festival-in-jeju-island/#sthash.jvZxN1eN.dpuf
Gimpo International Airport (I love Korea). Despite dozens of fully-booked flights there were no lines at check-in or through security (I love it even more). After 58 minutes in the air we landed at Jeju International Airport. If the palm trees and big grassy hills everywhere didn’t tell me I wasn’t on the peninsula anymore, the balmy temperature did. After months of subzero temps in Seoul, 18 degrees (64 F) felt amazing. - See more at: http://discoveringkorea.com/090220/a-special-jeju-island-tour/#sthash.WVafitJ5.dpuf

4. The warmth of the fire and the cool down's checked!
Need for a bit height to pump your adrenaline up? You can try to hike the Mount Hallasan

It's not the Shangrila, but it's the rooftop of Korea, which stands in Jeju Island, and if you a real hiker, the track wasn't very difficult, you may only spend 40-50 minutes to get this ah-mazing view.

5. Actually, I'm not really done with the amazing destine and itinerary of Jeju island, but to be honest, beside for the budget, my last post of daydreaming to Jeju Island will be destine in snacks (I'm thinking maybe I can bought some of it as a souvenirs) special from Jeju Island.
For the Lord bless of the fresh air, the view, the land and the environment, here's their nature's snack in Jeju Island..

Introducing Gamgyul, and don't misunderstood it with Oranges, Gamgyul is a Tangerine in Jeju's specialty.

The fun fact of Gamgyul is they appears everywhere! On the roadside going at 2,000KRW for a bag, at the markets and also in the high end souvenir shops for the prettily packaged and higher grade ones. The specialty is unlike the sister fruit, Oranges, Gamgyul taste were super sweet. Not to be confused with Hallabong which is bigger, more expensive and has a more protruding stem.

Meet Baeknyuncho as the main ingredients, and guess what is it, remembering a bit of California and Mexico? Yep! it's a Palm Cactus (I was just just joking with California & Mexico, it's unrelated with this beverage at all :p).
Yes, same like you, I never knew they were producible to be enjoy as an ice cream (who does think of that?)
But in Jeju they make drinks, desserts and ice cream using a flattened species of cactus (Baeknyuncho) that thrives there. This cactus ice cream popular as Hallasul, the price from a random ice cream shop are 3,000KRW and it tasted a bit like strawberries – so darn interesting and fun, eh?!

Well..
Here's here, my wishlist and itinerary daydreaming of visiting Jeju Island in this happier December. Hopefully the tiny little info might be useful for you ;)

Ps: Related with that, maybe you also want to have an unforgettable South Korea's moment for the end of the year, well you should check this (dagang lagi, yes :p)..
